Its August!

Rachel had a MRI yesterday & we got great news. The fluid in her head has lessened. So no sugary to have to remove some fluid. Woo hoo. She does have to get another MRI in February but as long & it looks good then she will only have to get MRI’s once a year instead of twice. YAY.

I’ve been on a scrapping kick again.

Rachels has her 1st day of therapy today

So Rachel starts a wrap & massage therapy today. Her foot doctor thinks that it over time it will help reduce the swelling in her right leg & foot. Now hopefully Miss Rachel will be a good girl & not scream through it. Fingers crossed. She doesn’t usually like people touching her legs & feet so this will be interesting. But hopefully over time she will get use to it & everything will be fine.

The sick bug came to visit

The sick bug has made an appearance at our house. Its been a good bit since they were last here so I was beginning to wonder where they were. I got it first and had a couple of ruff days where I just felt like crap. Troy is one day behind me & Rachel is two days behind me. Today Rachel seems to be having a bad day so hopefully she will feel like 10 times better tomorrow (which is the pattern that Troy & I followed). Like right now Rachel is snuggled up on the couch with her puppy laying her head down. I’m trying to hold her off until her usual nap time (9am) before I put her down. Both kids were up at 5am this morning. Yeah fun. So Troy is def going down with her. Maybe I can get a small nap in & then clean up a bit before they wake up.

Oh my goodness was it hot today! It was almost 100 degrees outside. Man it sucked. We went on a walk today with my dad and by the time we were half way done I was covered in sweat. So gross. But much needed. I gained 6lbs last month. Ick. Not the greatest but with Troy & Rachel I had already gained 20 lbs. So 6 compared to 20 is better but still its way to early for me to gain 6lbs…… Now my OB has me due on October 26th but according to the date of my last period I’m due October 30th. Yeah its only a 4 day difference but still which one do we go by?? So for now I’m going by October 30th as my due date. I just hit 19 weeks on Saturday.

I have to say I love technology! I’m sitting in bed on my netbook writing this while watching Lie To Me. So far its really good! Although I am upset that Secret Life of the American Teenager is on at the same time as Lie To Me. But I plan to watch Secret Life online at Fox Family tomorrow. But this just blows me away that I can sit here and type while watching the show.

I went to schedule Rachel’s second MRI & found out that they wanted to do an un-medicated MRI. They wanted to have be fully awake for the MRI & lie still the entire time…. There is no way she would go through with that. It would freak the shit out of her if we even tried. There was no way I was going to let them do that to her. She already has problems trusting anyone she doesn’t know.. She would be ten times worse if we let the doctors do this. I instantly said no way! She’ll only be 18 months old!!! My 2 year old won’t lay still for 30 minutes at home!! And you want my 18 month old to be FULLY awake and put into this machine?? NO! NO! NO! So the end result is that the MRI will be medicated.

When I was on the phone with the Neurology department the lady I was talking to me told me that they do this kind of MRI to 18 month olds all the time. That scares me! There are parents that would do that to their young toddlers? What kind of parent could do that to their child? I know the test is important but we were told that if shes awake or ‘asleep’ doesn’t affect the test results. So why put your child through the stress of it??

Its all coming back

So May it almost over. Then next month is June. And while I can not wait for Eclipse to come out I am SCARED to death of what July will bring to our family. Some time in June I will be scheduling Rachel’s 2nd MRI and neurology appointment. She will also have another genetics appointment. I did not want her to do the first MRI and I so do not want her to do another. I’m so afraid that the fluid in her head will be worse then what it was before and she will have to have the fluid drained. I do not want my (now) 15 month old to go through that. Plus what if something else is wrong? What if there is something else that has to be corrected? I am so scared of this visit. I’m scared of what the out come may be. I’m hoping it will be good but I can’t help but think “what if its not”? I can now clearly remember the mess I was before her last MRI and how I cried when I got the phone call that Rachel had to see a neurologist and then they set the appointment up for that WEEK. I knew something wasn’t right. We usually have to schedule appointments at least two to three weeks in advance. I don’t want to go through this again. I know I don’t have a choice. That I have to be strong and that this is all probably for nothing.

We have gotten so lucky with Rachel. Things could be ten times worse then they are now. Will this lucky streak last for a bit longer? Or will it run out? I hate not knowing. I’ve known in the back of my head since February that she had to go back. She had to do another one. But I just didn’t want to accept it. It wasn’t happening yet so it wasn’t real. But its real.

Rachel took her first steps

We bought Rachel a baby doll stroller a couple days before her birthday hoping it would encourage her to stand up and go go go! Well a month and a half after her birthday she did it! She stood up and pushed the stroller around my parents living room. It was the best thing I’ve seen in a long time. It was like this huge wight was lifted off of my shoulders. The doctors have been saying that only Rachel will be able to tell us what she can and can’t do. And it seems like she can walk! This is a step in the right direction!!!!!! We’re heading the right way! Now we just have to keep encouraging her and praying that she’ll take steps on her own. But for now I will take assisted steps!! I’ll take these and cherish them.

Changes

There are changes coming this year. As to what you will have to just wait and see. But one change you can see is the layout. I tweaked the header, footer and some of the images to make it more of my style. I’m really loving it. Haven’t scrapbooked any new pages. I do have some pictures from Rachel’s birthday party to share. Since there are nine of them I am adding them gallery style. To view them larger just click on the image.

Last year right now (its 10:39am) I had just gotten checked into the hospital and had gotten my epidural by now. Then at 11:22pm that night Rachel was born 8lbz 1 oz and 20 inches long. My sweet baby was finally here!

This is my baby girl on Saturday at her birthday party. She is currently 28 inches and 16 and a half pounds. I can’t believe that we survived her first year. We did it.

Rachel is such a little camera ham. By this age Troy would not stay still for me to take any pictures. But Rachel will just sit there and smile.I dressed her up in her ballerina outfit yesterday and took her outside. I got the cutest pictures: here are my two favorite.

1 week & counting until the party of the year

Rachel’s birthday party is next Saturday. Only one week away. Wow. That means that in nine days my baby will be one. She’ll be a toddler. Oh wow. Its crazy. So I have been in birthday party planning mode. I got Rachel’s thank yous in the mail yesterday and have wrote them all out already! Way to go me! I wanted to get them done so I can enjoy spending the last few days of Rachel’s “babyhood” with her.

That’s a little sneak peek of the thank yous. I had to stuff and “jazz” up the envelopes. We decided on putting a generic message on the outside so this way we didn’t have to go through 50 of them as people are leaving. Thinking about it. They are more like “favors” and not thank yous. The thank yous will be mailed after her party. But oh well. I have fun creating them and writing them out. This is going to be a awesome princess party!
